Pembroke Consulting Releases New Comprehensive Guide to the U.S. Wholesale Distribution Industry

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) April 15, 2008 -- Today, Pembroke Consulting announced the availability of "The 2008 Wholesale Distribution Economic Factbook," the third edition of its comprehensive market data reference guide to the $4.2 trillion U.S. wholesale distribution industry. The new report contains detailed economic statistics on the 112 distinct sub-sectors within the wholesale distribution industry.

"Revenues of wholesaler-distributors grew by 8.6% in 2007, marking another year of strong overall performance. However, the performance of individual sub-sectors varied more than in previous years," said Pembroke Consulting President Adam J. Fein, Ph.D., the study's author. "The ongoing surge in commodity prices continues to ripple through wholesale distribution. Some sectors actually shrank in 2007 after revenues are adjusted for price inflation."

The Factbook supplies a wealth of detailed channel benchmarking data for each of the 112 sub-sectors, including revenue and employment growth trends, the number and size distribution of companies, gross margins, wages, and many other operating statistics. All data are presented using a single, internally consistent format to permit direct comparisons among the sub-sectors.

By special arrangement with the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), Pembroke Consulting is also making individual sections of the Factbook available for purchase as the "2008 Wholesale Distribution Economic Reports." Each Report includes economic analyses of one of the 19 major wholesale distribution sectors in an easy-to-read and immediately downloadable format.

"We are pleased to provide an effective way for executives to access the specific data that are most relevant for their own business and line of trade," said Ron Schreibman, Executive Director of the NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence. "Dr. Fein's reports provide the most complete roadmap to understanding the economics of the wholesale distribution industry."
